Why modern silkworms failed the Han challenge

Could a robe weigh less than 50 grams? Yes! The Han Dynasty silk gauze is so thin that it's almost invisible. In the 1980s, modern weavers failed to replicate it because their silkworms were "too healthy" to produce such lightweight silk. To match the ancient fineness, they had to force modern worms to "diet."
