Iranian state media released a video on Sunday in which a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy is heard warning a US Navy missile destroyer to turn back after it entered the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command announced that two destroyers – the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. and the USS Michael Murphy – transited the strait and operated in the Arabian Gulf (the Persian Gulf) as part of a larger mission to ensure the waterway is completely free of sea mines.

A crew member on the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. is heard stating that the destroyer was conducting a "transit passage consistent with international law."

In response, the IRGC serviceman declared that he was giving a "final warning." He also cautioned nearby vessels to stay away from all warships in the area, stating that the IRGC was ready to open fire without prior warning.
