Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday met with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Beijing.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said the current international situation is undergoing severe turbulence; unilateral hegemonism is becoming increasingly harmful; the global governance system is facing profound adjustments; and the cause of peace and development for humanity is confronting serious challenges.

In the face of a complex and changing external environment, China-Russia relations remain unshaken, and cooperation across various fields is "strong and resilient despite countless hardships and trials," he added.

The two sides coordinate and respond to each other on the international stage, demonstrating to the world that even amid adverse currents, there is still a right path, and amid changing circumstances, there is greater responsibility to be upheld, Wang said.

Russia and China are comprehensive strategic partners of coordination, characterized by mutual respect and a high degree of mutual trust, Lavrov said.

The Russian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, maintain close high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, he added.

Wang and Lavrov also exchanged views on the US-Israeli war with Iran, the Ukraine crisis, and Asia-Pacific affairs.
