A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Wednesday urged Japan to deeply reflect on its history of militarist aggression, honor its commitments and act prudently in military and security areas.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a query on Japan's Defense Ministry planning to deploy anti-aircraft missile units in Yonaguni Town in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.
Guo said China is highly concerned about the relevant developments.
Under the guise of "defense" and "counterattack," Japan is strengthening the deployment of missiles and other offensive weapons in areas adjacent to China, which is actually building a forward fortress for military confrontation, aiming to threaten regional peace and stability, he said.
