Completed in 1968, Beijing's Capital Indoor Stadium stands as China's first modern indoor sports venue, with a legacy spanning more than half a century. From the 1972 Asian Table Tennis Championships to the 1990 Asian Games, it has witnessed some of the country's most significant moments in sports and diplomacy.

Its most historic moment came in 1971, when it hosted the exhibition match between the US and Chinese table tennis teams, which ignited the era-defining Ping-Pong Diplomacy and helped open the door to normalized relations between China and the US.

In 2022, the stadium was transformed for the Beijing Winter Olympics, evolving into a cutting-edge, dual-purpose venue. Today, it continues to shine on the global stage, proving that even after decades, it remains at the heart of world-class sport.
