Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives Gerry Brownlee is on a visit to China from April 12 to 16 at the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee.

Speaking in an interview with CGTN's Feng Yilei, Brownlee said he looks forward to global free trade rules "either being ratified and/or expanded during China's term as the host country for APEC."

"It's going to be a very important year for asserting the rules that have worked so well for people," he said.
