The Davao City Government in southern Philippines has strongly opposed any proposal to establish foreign military facilities within its jurisdiction, citing concerns about the lack of direct benefits to residents, according to local media reports on Wednesday.

In an official statement on Tuesday, Davao City Government officials said they would not support such developments.

The statement comes amid reports that the United States intends to build a fuel storage depot in the Davao region by 2028.

According to local media reports, the US Defense Logistics Agency has issued a solicitation to contractors for a proposed fuel facility in Mindanao, specifically near Davao City.
