UN Tourism: China's rural tourism success offers blueprint for developing nations

02:01

China will host the third High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development next week. The gathering marks five years since the launch of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), a program supporting development projects across the Global South.

The GDI now involves more than 130 countries and organizations, with projects spanning poverty reduction, digital development, and climate action. The Forum will bring together government officials, UN agencies, and development partners, with a focus on turning commitments into concrete results. Key discussions will center on digital growth, climate resilience, and sustainable development financing, especially for the Global South.

With global uncertainty rising, industries like tourism are also searching for new momentum. CGTN spoke with the Director of International Development and Cooperation at UN Tourism about where that growth could come from.
