The world's largest wind-assisted propulsion system, or WAPS, for ships was unveiled on April 17 in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province. The newly unveiled rotor sail propulsion system has a diameter of 5 meters and a height of 35 meters. The system efficiently harnesses wind energy during navigation to provide additional thrust for vessels, resulting in an average fuel savings of 5% to 25% for ships and a corresponding reduction in carbon emissions.
