The spring tea harvest in Rizhao, a coastal city in east China's Shandong Province, officially began on April 16, 2026. The opening event, held in Jufeng Town, marked the start of picking season across more than 160,000 mu (about 10,667 hectares) of tea fields.

Rizhao is known for its unique coastal green tea, grown in a cooler northern climate near the sea, which gives the leaves a fresh, delicate flavor. The first harvest of the season is especially valued, as early spring tea is considered the most tender and aromatic.
