China has unveiled a 35-meter rotor sail system to help reduce shipping emissions in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province. Developed by the Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute under the China State Shipbuilding Corp, the 5-meter-diameter system uses wind to provide extra thrust and could cut fuel use by 5% to 25% for large ocean-going vessels.
