In a gripping display at the FIM Superbike World Championship, Valentin Debise secured second place in the Superpole session of the Pirelli Dutch Round, riding high on the momentum of a triumphant double victory at Portimao last month.
The French rider, competing on the ZXMOTO 820RR-RS, continues to make waves in the circuit following his historic wins in the medium volume category in Portugal.
The Assen Circuit, known for its intricate series of consecutive corners that challenge bike handling to the limits, posed formidable obstacles. Yet, Debise and his ZXMOTO proved their mettle, clocking an impressive lap time of 1 minute 36.561 seconds throughout the Superpole session.
Debise's landmark victory in the previous round not only marked the first triumph for a Chinese manufacturer in the Superbike category but also signaled the debut of a Chinese motorcycle brand on the WSBK victory podium.
With these accomplishments, Debise has climbed to third place in the overall standings, cementing both his and the ZXMOTO project as serious contenders for the championship title.
Another French rider and former world champion Lucas Mahias of Yamaha took the pole, 0.071 seconds ahead of Debise for Race 1 that will take place on late Saturday.
