Towering walls of sand hit northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

Sandstorms hit parts of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Friday as strong winds swept dust into several urban areas. In the region's capital Urumqi, visibility fell to between 500 and 1,000 meters before rain gradually improved conditions.
