A western black crested gibbon mother has been spotted with her newborn at Wuliangshan National Nature Reserve in Jingdong County, southwest China's Yunnan Province. Video footage shows the mother foraging while holding the baby close. The infant clings tightly, occasionally peeking out and nursing, appearing healthy and active. The species is listed as critically endangered, with fewer than 1,500 left globally. Over 600 live in Jingdong, making it a key habitat.
