Why did the Strait of Hormuz reopen — then shut again?

Yao Jinxiang of the China Institute of International Studies said Iran's move to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on April 17 reflected its commitment following a US-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. He noted the strait's closure again on April 18 was driven by three key factors, adding that repeated closures and reopenings could bring fresh uncertainty to global oil markets and supply chains.
