As of Q1 2026, China's total installed power capacity reached nearly 4 billion kilowatts – roughly three times that of the US, securing the world's top spot, according to CCTV reports. Clean energy generation (hydropower, nuclear, wind, solar) hit 0.7 trillion kWh, up 2.8% year on year, accounting for 33.2% of industrial power output.

In a separate first, China launched its first 100,000-household pilot project for hydrogen-blended natural gas in Weifang, Shandong Province. Using existing pipelines with a 10% hydrogen mix, the project could replace 15 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and cut CO2 emissions by 30 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, the 139th Canton Fair's Phase I, focused on "advanced manufacturing," drew over 5,900 high-tech and "little giant" enterprises. Phase II, on "quality homeware," will showcase green building materials and smart home innovations from April 23.
