The first Hualong One nuclear power unit in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – Unit 1 of CGN (China General Nuclear Power Group) Taipingling Nuclear Power Project in Huizhou, south China's Guangdong Province – came online on Monday, officially entering commercial operation.
The project involves the construction of six Hualong One nuclear units in three phases. Once fully completed, the annual power generation is expected to exceed 55 billion kilowatt-hours, equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by around 16.65 million tonnes and carbon dioxide emissions by about 50.82 million tonnes per year.
