American professor William Brown – who now works at Xiamen University and has made Xiamen in east China his home for over three decades – is set to share his understanding of China's Long March through a documentary.

China International Communications Group is behind this new documentary project. An official from the group stated that the documentary will focus on small-yet-impactful stories during the Long March, to touch the hearts of millions in an emotionally resonant way.

Having begun by writing letters to his American relatives and friends about his experiences in China, William Brown has expanded his storytelling to mass media and books.

During the launch ceremony of this documentary – titled A Road Without End – The Long March –last weekend, William Brown revealed that he systematically read up on Long March-related works and was deeply moved by the resilience and hope embodied in the historical event. This is why he says he aspired to explore the contemporary significance of the Long March from a new-era perspective. "By sharing stories of ordinary people facing difficulties and making brave choices, I hoped to help more people understand the spirit of the Long March," said Brown.

The documentary is an integral part of an international communication project designed by the China International Communications Group, commemorating 2026 as the 90th anniversary of the Victory of the Red Army's Long March.
