China's Foreign Ministry on Wednesday urged all parties to prevent a renewed outbreak of conflict after the United States announced an extension of the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.

Speaking at a press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the situation in the region remains at a critical juncture between war and peace, with the top priority being to avoid a resumption of hostilities.

Guo said China supports efforts by relevant parties to resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means, calling for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire to safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
