The Duku Highway, one of Xinjiang's most scenic roads, will reopen by the end of May as spring snow clearance has begun. Multiple machines are working from both ends, with the most challenging section being the central Nalati area, where snow walls remain up to five meters thick. Running 561 kilometers through the Tianshan Mountains, one third of the road hangs on sheer cliffs, one fifth lies atop frozen permafrost — this is not just a road, but a journey through Xinjiang's wildest landscapes.
