China will take active steps to deepen cooperation and remain a driver and contributor to global development, working with all sides through practical actions to open up new prospects for global development, top Chinese diplomat Wang Yi said on Wednesday.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, made the remarks while attending the opening ceremony the 3rd High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.
Wang noted that this year marks the fifth anniversary of China's proposal of the Global Development Initiative (GDI). Over the past five years, with joint efforts from all sides, the GDI has evolved from a Chinese proposal into an international consensus, and from a cooperation concept into concrete actions, he noted.
He said the initiative has injected fresh momentum into the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, contributing to new progress and achievements in global development.
Wang stressed that China stands ready to work with all parties to use the GDI as a platform to pool development resources, strengthen the foundations for growth, uphold peaceful development, and foster an open development environment, with the aim of building a global community with a shared future.
