China is willing to work with Cambodia to coordinate development and security, deepen all-around cooperation between the two countries, and strengthen coordination and cooperation within multilateral mechanisms such as China-ASEAN cooperation and Lancang-Mekong cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while holding talks with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn in Phnom Penh.
Wang said that the first meeting between foreign ministers and defense ministers of China and Cambodia under the "2+2" strategic dialogue mechanism was a success, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to being long-term, reliable good friends and partners.
He noted China will continue to work in its own way to rebuild mutual trust and improve relations between Cambodia and Thailand, and is willing to provide more platforms for direct communication between the two countries.
For his part, Sokhonn said the meeting enhanced mutual political trust and played an important role in deepening bilateral cooperation.
He added that Cambodia appreciates China's valuable support in areas such as infrastructure construction, clean energy, agriculture and finance, and is willing to continue to deepen cooperation with China in various fields.
Meanwhile, Sokhonn briefed the delegation on the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, expressed gratitude for China's mediation efforts.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
