As temperatures in northeast China continue to rise in late spring, flocks of migratory birds have been arriving at Heilongjiang Maolangou National Nature Reserve. Boasting a sound ecological environment and abundant food resources, the reserve offers a safe and suitable habitat for the birds.

During daily patrols and monitoring, staff have spotted various migratory species including wild geese, mandarin ducks, mergansers and cormorants. The birds rest and refuel along the Heilongjiang River, playing and foraging freely, painting a lively, vivid ecological picture of spring.
