Five people died and two were injured in a residential building fire in the Shuangliu District of Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Saturday, the fire-fighting and rescue bureau said.

The blaze was reported at 12:49 a.m. and under control by 1:09 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
