The inner dome of Unit 1 at the Phase I expansion of the Huaneng Shidao Bay nuclear power plant in east China's Shandong Province was successfully hoisted on April 25, marking a major construction milestone.
Weighing over 220 tonnes and made up of 70 steel panels, the dome is a critical part of the reactor's safety structure.
Once fully operational, the plant's annual power generation is expected to reach 35 billion kWh, enough to power around 17 million households.
