Global innovators spotlight tech cooperation, investment opportunities in Beijing

The Global Innovation Conference 2026, hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce, was held in Beijing on April 21, gathering innovators, technology firms, multinationals, investors, researchers, and government representatives to explore new opportunities in technological innovation and investment promotion.

More than 100 participants from China and abroad were there. The event focused on strengthening industrial innovation, deepening international cooperation, and accelerating the commercialization of technological results.

Avanci Founder and CEO Kasim Alfalahi told participants that China is playing an increasingly important role in the global innovation ecosystem, providing greater certainty for international technological development. He said Avanci has built strong partnerships with some of China's most innovative telecom firms, smartphone makers, startups and other industry players, helping advance more sustainable models of innovation.

In the keynote session, representatives from major technology companies, including Huawei's Li Chaojun and former Ericsson China President Zhao Juntao, shared views on "China's Innovation on the Global Stage." Speakers discussed China's transformation from a manufacturing hub into a global innovation engine, the growing role of Chinese innovators in standard-essential technologies, and the importance of international cooperation and global frameworks.

During the panel discussion, experts from OPPO, Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia and CICT Mobile exchanged views on technology applications, industrial value and the licensing ecosystem. They discussed how innovation can address real-world challenges, create social value, and build resilience in an increasingly complex global environment.

Participants said invention is the starting point of innovation, industrial transformation is key to unlocking its value, and international cooperation remains a major catalyst. As exchanges deepen among innovators, enterprises, investors and industry partners, more innovations are expected to translate into fresh momentum for high-quality growth.
