A brown bear was rescued from a four-meter-deep garbage pit in Dege County in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Thursday, after police and villagers built a wooden ladder. The frightened bear initially toppled the ladder but later climbed out safely and returned to the forest. Authorities have since installed a protective fence to prevent similar incidents.
