Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, said on Monday that the root cause of disruption in the Strait of Hormuz lies in the illegal military actions launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. He made the remarks at a high-level United Nations Security Council debate on maritime security.
"The way forward to resolving disruptions to navigation in the strait is to achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as soon as possible, and to promote the restoration of peace and stability in the Gulf region and the Middle East," he said.
