The Iranian hacktivist group Handala claims to have made public the full names and personal details of 2,379 US Marines deployed in the Middle East, according to Iranian media. 

The group stated that the exposure was meant to demonstrate its intelligence capabilities, describing it as "just a drop in the ocean."

The group also claimed to possess a large amount of data on American military personnel, including identities, movements and private information.

In a Telegram message published on Tuesday, Handala described the exposure as a "minor warning," saying that US military security is "nothing more than an empty illusion" and threatened to expose more information and possibly carry out future attacks.

The U.S. military has now deployed about 50,000 service members in the Middle East.

Last month, the same group reportedly hacked into the accounts of the head of the FBI and published personal emails and photos of him.
