China began installation of the nuclear island for Unit 5 at the Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Plant. Using the independently developed third-generation "Hualong One" technology, the nuclear island is the plant's core facility. The project consists of two units with "Hualong One" technology, each generating nearly 10 billion kWh annually, enough to power about 1 million people's electricity needs.
