China's Pinglu Canal now has a 240 meter-long wildlife bridge (130.2 meter main span) – the first large-span animal crossing over a major waterway.
Instead of asphalt, its 20 meter-wide deck is covered with soil and plants, creating a natural path for species like leopard cats, spotted linsang and red-bellied tree squirrels.
The canal is scheduled to open in 2026.
