China's software and information technology services sector continues to make breakthroughs, with steady improvements in domestically developed operating systems, databases and other foundational software, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office, Vice Minister Ke Jixin said the number of mobile phones equipped with HarmonyOS, an open-source operating system developed in China, had exceeded 55 million units by the end of March.
Ke added that China's industrial software sector has developed a product system covering key industries, with overall technological capabilities significantly strengthened.
New business models such as Model-as-a-Service and Agent-as-a-Service are also rapidly emerging. By the end of March, average daily token calls had surpassed 140 trillion, more than 1,000 times higher than the same period in 2024.
Meanwhile, leading Chinese cloud service providers have accelerated their overseas expansion, building more than 150 data centers across more than 30 countries and regions, advancing the global reach of China's cloud services.
