China's top legislature has adopted a new law on social assistance, aiming at providing more accessible, efficient social assistance to vulnerable groups in the country. The law will take effect on July 1, 2026.
This comes as the 14th National People's Congress wrapped up its latest standing committee session in Beijing. During the three-day session, lawmakers also reviewed a number of draft laws, underscoring a continued focus on improving people's livelihoods.
