Restored areas of land, which were once rocky, have seen a bumper harvest of local fruits in Langxi Town, Yinjiang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, Guizhou. As agate-red cherries enter full ripening season, farmers seize fine weather to pick fruits and ensure fresh supplies for the market.

Located in a typical karst region, Langxi Town has advanced ecological restoration and improvement of rocky, desertified land via scientific soil cultivation. Benefiting from abundant sunlight and a large day-night temperature difference, the cherries have bright color, plump flesh, juicy texture and rich flavor.

The cherry-picking period will last through China's May Day holiday (May 1–5), effectively boosting income from local agriculture.
