A readers forum on the English edition of the fifth volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" was held in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, on Thursday.
About 200 participants from China and Malaysia, including representatives from the publishing sector, think tanks and media, attended the event.
Participants said the works embody great development experiences and governance philosophies representing Eastern wisdom.
Against the backdrop of the current geopolitical landscape and the profound changes in the global governance system, the in-depth exchange of governance experiences between China and Malaysia through the dissemination of books is of great significance for deepening bilateral friendship, mutual trust, win-win cooperation, and promoting the building of a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, they said.
Addressing the event, Johari Abdul, speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, said the book outlines China's development philosophy, major strategies and its position in the global landscape, helping readers to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying logic of China's policies.
For Malaysia, this is not only a window to understand China, but also a significant foundation for the steady and long-term development of bilateral relations, Johari said, expressing his expectation that both sides can exchange views, deepen understanding and consolidate cooperation to contribute to the future development of Malaysia-China relations.
Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the discourses on high-quality development, high-standard opening up, and the joint Belt and Road cooperation in the fifth volume provide important insights for deepening connectivity between the two countries.
Noting that Malaysia and China have achieved remarkable results in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation in recent years, Loke said Malaysia is ready to continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields.
Ian Neo Chee Hua, CEO of the Southeast Asia Research Center for Humanities in Malaysia, said the book contains rich political philosophy guiding China's economic and social development and its relations with the world, laying an important foundation for the continued strengthening of Malaysia-China cooperation.
As the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) promotes implementation and the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA) 3.0 advances, Malaysia-China relations are entering a new stage of coordinated development, with broad prospects for cooperation in trade, investment, digital economy and green development, he said.
During the event, the participating experts exchanged views on topics such as state governance, China-ASEAN regional cooperation and the China-Malaysia community with a shared future.
