Georgian filmmakers: Glad their stories resonate in China

Ana Urushadze, director of Supporting Role, winner of Best Music in the Tiantan Awards at the 16th Beijing International Film Festival, joined producer Davit Tsintsadze to reflect on the film's premiere. Speaking with CGTN's Zhang Meng, the two described the screening as "a very nice experience," pointing to the strong engagement from Chinese audiences during the Q&A session.

Looking back on the response, Urushadze noted how audiences connected with the story across cultural boundaries. "People here could resonate with it through their own perspectives," she said, highlighting how the film found meaning beyond its original context.

Music plays a key role in shaping the film's inner world. Built around a recurring theme that carries both a sense of tension and something almost magical, the score adds emotional depth to the storytelling – poetic and dreamlike in tone.

For Tsintsadze, his first visit to China made the experience even more memorable. He praised the warmth of the festival and the city's unique rhythm – especially at night, when "a different mood comes," giving Beijing a distinct kind of beauty.

Both filmmakers also reflected on the role of international film festivals as cultural bridges, where stories move across borders and connect through shared human experiences.
