"Yanguan is a city at the heart of music," said Montreux Jazz Festival CEO Mathieu Jaton. "This is just the starting point."
Yanguan, known for the Qiantang River tidal bore, has been transformed into a "music town." It now houses China's first professional orchestra in a historic town and one of the world's largest wooden concert halls.
From May 1, over 140 performances will be staged across the town, featuring Swiss electronic pop duo Stevans and later Grammy-winning jazz legend Jeff Lorber on May 11.
