China has announced the renewal of the trade-in subsidy program for consumer goods in 2026. Analysts believe it will form part of broader efforts to boost consumption for the May Day holiday.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, China's trade-in program had resulted in sales of over 500 billion yuan (about $73 billion) as of mid-April, benefiting nearly 69 million purchases. This is all believed to get the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030) off to a good start.
