Setareh Sadeqi, an assistant professor at the University of Tehran, said the US move to guide vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and its continued blockade of Iran are making the ceasefire increasingly fragile.
"If we can still call it a ceasefire, it looks like we are facing a different form of war, with continued exchanges of hostilities and aggression," said Sadeqi, arguing that Iran is using the strait as leverage in response to US pressure and will not enter nuclear talks while the blockade remains in place.
Her comments come as Iran has submitted a new peace proposal through Pakistan, while the US says it is moving to help ships stranded near the vital waterway.
