Tensions between Iran and the United States have flared up again after Washington launched an operation dubbed "Project Freedom" as part of efforts to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. On May 4, the Iranian military said it had fired warning shots at a US destroyer attempting to approach the strait. The US military said it was carrying out tasks related to assisting stranded vessels. On the same day, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) claimed it was attacked by Iranian missiles and drones. This marks the first time the UAE has come under attack since the temporary ceasefire between Iran and the US.
