US-Iran ceasefire on the brink as UAE reports new attacks from Tehran

The United Arab Emirates on Monday said its air defenses intercepted ballistic and cruise missiles fired from Iran, and a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah was reported after a drone attack. The attacks on Monday mark the first on UAE since Iran and the US agreed to a ceasefire on April 8.

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that if Iran targets US ships in the Strait of Hormuz during Project Freedom, they will be "blown off the face of the Earth," Fox News reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday that events in the Strait of Hormuz make clear that there's no military solution to a political crisis. The US and UAE "should be wary of being dragged back into quagmire by ill-wishers," he said.
