An 821-tonne dome has been successfully lifted into place atop a new LNG storage tank in south China's Hainan Province. The tank is part of the Hainan LNG Phase II expansion project. Instead of cranes, engineers used air pressure to raise the dome 43 meters, roughly the height of a 15-story building. This pneumatic lifting relies on controlled airflow to precisely elevate heavy structures. The expansion will double the facility's peak-shaving capacity, adding 400 million cubic meters of storage.
