China's May Day holiday box office reached 758 million yuan (about $111 million) as the number of tickets surged 10.23% year on year to 20.8419 million over the five-day break that ended Tuesday, according to data from the China Film Administration.
Compared to the same holiday period last year, box office revenue rose 1.41%, and the number of screenings increased by 2% at 2.376 million. The average ticket price fell to 36.3 yuan, down 8% from a year earlier.
