His remarks came after a reporter asked for comment on Time magazine's recent list of "The 10 Most Influential AI Companies of 2026," which included Chinese firms ByteDance, Alibaba Group and Zhipu AI alongside companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic and Alphabet Inc.
Lin said China remains committed to an open and mutually beneficial path for AI innovation and welcomes companies from all countries to compete and cooperate in the Chinese market.
According to the magazine, ByteDance's AI assistant Doubao has achieved rapid user growth, Alibaba's Qwen models have become a major force in open-source AI, and Zhipu AI has made progress in developing advanced large models based on China's domestic computing platforms.
