We Talk: New York youth say Chinese people are hardworking, smart

Global Stringer

Data released by the Pew Research Center on April 14 shows that favorable views of China have risen significantly in many countries. In the United States, positive views of China increased from 14% in 2023 to 27% in 2026, nearly doubling.

Against the backdrop of a rapidly changing global landscape, CGTN Stringer interviewed young people in New York City about their impressions of China. Julia Applebrough, one of the interviewees, described the Chinese people she knows as hardworking and smart. She said the current policies of the US government run counter to the vision of attracting global talent and, in the long run, will only harm the United States itself.
