Tourists spotted a pod of Chinese white dolphins in Bochao Bay, south China's Hainan Province, on May 10, with footage showing two swimming and playing. Known as the "aquatic giant panda," the species is under first-class state protection and is a marine ecosystem flagship. Of the 6,000 Chinese white dolphins worldwide, about 5,000 live in Chinese waters, where their population is stable and habitats are improving.
