What could be better than a late-night bowl of seafood porridge on a hillside, overlooking a glowing port? Near Yantian Port in Shenzhen, this has become a unique nighttime ritual.

From around 9 p.m., people from Shenzhen, Hong Kong and beyond make their way up the hill – drawn by sea breezes, city lights, and the promise of a quiet view. Some even stay through the night to catch the sunrise.
