US influencers on China-US relations: More engagements bring better understanding

The issue of strategic perception is always fundamental to the China-US relationship, just like the first button of a shirt that must be put right. So, what is the biggest misunderstanding the United States currently has about China? Drawing on their own experiences of living and working in both China and the US, three American influencers share their views on biases in US media coverage, the lack of deep understanding of China in American society, and the benefit of China-US cooperation.

As one of them puts it, "They look at China, and they think this and that, but they don't really bother to get to the root of how it all got there." To properly fasten the "first button" of China-US relations, the US must first correct misunderstandings in its strategic perception of China and abandon its misconceptions. It should understand the real, stable, civilized and peaceful China with objectivity and respect, and recognize how cooperation between the two countries would benefit both nations and the world.
