The first echelon of the third batch of China's UN peacekeeping quick reaction forces in Abyei departed Monday for a 12-month mission. Peacekeepers left Zhengzhou Airport for Africa by military aircraft to take over from the previous batch. Their tasks cover armed patrols, cordon-and-search and civilian protection. The second echelon is scheduled to deploy by mid-May.
