A new hydropower station on the Dadu River in southwest China's Sichuan Province began operation on Tuesday. Located in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, the Jinchuan Hydropower Station has an installed capacity of 860 megawatts. Once all units are operational, the station is expected to generate 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 2.6 million tonnes.
